TFAW Creates Exclusive Print of The Guild: Tink for ECCC

February 24th, 2011 Comments off

The Guild: Tink PrintIn celebration of the upcoming The Guild: Tink one-shot comic book written by series creator and star Felicia Day, we’ve created an exclusive print of the Ron Chan cover for Emerald City Comicon March 4-6. The print will be available for free during our Ron Chan signing Saturday, March 5 (1-3 p.m.) at Booth #612, and free with a $10 purchase before and after.

“We are huge, nerdy fans of The Guild, and of Ron Chan,” said TFAW Senior Director of Retail Operations Andrew McIntire. “We wanted to create something fun to showcase this incredible cover, and we knew ECCC would be the perfect place for it.”

Depicting a ferocious, in-game Tink wielding her bow in a lush forest, this full-color print, at 11″ x 17″, is a must-have for fans of The Guild web series, an independent comedy about a group of online gamers created by and starring Felicia Day. Plus, both Felicia Day and Tink actress Amy Okuda will be attending this year’s ECCC and signing on the third floor at Booth C-05 all three days.

Come see artist Ron Chan at Booth #612 and get a free The Guild: Tink print Saturday, March 5 from 1 to 3 p.m., right after The Guild’s panel! The Guild: Tink one-shot debuts March 16, 2011 from Dark Horse Comics.

Hell Hath No Fury…Like Hellraiser Comics!

February 22nd, 2011 Comments off

Hellraiser #2Did you know that Clive Barker is returning to his horror masterpiece in the new Hellraiser comic book series from BOOM! Studios? I just wanted to make sure all of you horror fans don’t miss out on this exciting new title when it debuts next month.

One of the coolest things we’ve heard about the new series is that Barker is bringing back Kirsty Quinn for a piece of the action! She’s become a Harrower and has gathered a team that is as damaged and insane as she is. Their mission–to fight the forces of the Cenobites and free some souls from Hell!

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though…Pinhead’s got a plan and it sounds like Kirsty has a role in it. The fun kicks off when Hellraiser #1 hits on March 23. You can also pre-order your copy of Hellraiser #2 now!

Be sure to come back to the TFAW Blog in March where we will be celebrating BOOM! Studios’ entire catalog with exclusive interviews, inside peeks into new and upcoming books, contests and more! Prepare yourself, for BOOM! Month is nigh!

I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to see Kirsty return with a new team of soul-savers! What do you think about this latest development? Let us know below.

Movie Update: Thor Trailer, Superman Pic, Wonder Woman Cast!

February 17th, 2011 1 comment

Wow! The past two days have seen a lot of comics-related movie developments–and most of it seems completely awesome!

First, Wonder Woman has been cast for the new David E. Kelley Wonder Woman television show: Adrianne Palicki from Friday Night Lights! This seems promising to me: not only is she legitimately Amazonian in height, at 5′ 11″, but from what little I’ve seen from her on Friday Night Lights, she’s adept at playing strong yet vulnerable, which would make her version of Wonder Woman relatable.

Next, newly anointed Superman Henry Cavill appears on the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly wearing the iconic “S” on his chest. It’s hard not to compare anyone to the phenomenal Christopher Reeve, but so far, so good.

Lastly (and perhaps most excitingly!) we’ve got a new trailer for Thor, and it looks EPIC! Check it out:

So what do you think? Are we entering a new era of awesome comic book movies and television, or are you underwhelmed? Post your comments below!

New Comic Book Previews From Dynamite Entertainment

February 15th, 2011 Comments off

Thanks to the fine folks at Dynamite Entertainment, we have comic book previews of five new titles that are on sale tomorrow: Boys #51, Garth Ennis: Jennifer Blood #1, Green Hornet Year One #8, Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time: Eye of the World #8, and Vampirella #3. We’ve got four to five preview pages of each, so check ‘em out below!

Green Hornet Year One #8

Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time: Eye of the World #8

Vampirella #3
Vampirella #3

What do you think? Jennifer Blood, with its suburban-mom-by-day, vigilante-by-night setup, seems like classic Ennis. Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time: Eye of the World comics adapt Jordan’s very popular novel, which has sold more than 44 million copies (if you missed it the first time around, be sure the check out the Wheel of Time concept art we posted in 2009). Green Hornet Year One takes a different approach than this winter’s movie, telling period adventures of the original Green Hornet!

I’m digging Russ Braun’s art in The Boys #51 (also by Garth Ennis)–what do you think? Also, Vampirella‘s new series has been pretty popular so far–although I noticed she’s in plainclothes here.

Are you going to check these out? Post your comments below!
